• Client: B Braun
  • Location: Sheffield
  • Project: New Warehouse, loading docks and associated external works
  • Value: £1.2m
  • Duration: 21 weeks
  • Description:

This impressive new extension to the B Braun premises at Sheffield was a 16m high barrel-roofed structure, providing two new loading docks, warehousing and logistics improvements to support the growing B Braun business.

The 15,000 sq.ft new storage facility achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating thanks to solar renewable energy, an innovative design solution to alleviate snow drifting and an impressive 99% of all construction waste recycled.

The project overcame many obstacles during the build, including the discovery of a significant quantity of buried asbestos and 20 buried trees. 5000 cubic metres of rock and soil had to be removed to carry out the construction of numerous retaining walls and structures and to create a level site before works could begin.

As the main contractor, HB Projects undertook the works on a Design and Build basis, taking full responsibility for all aspects of Planning, Building Regulations and BREEAM Approvals.
