Paul Fahey
Retail Director

Paul joined the
company in 2003 following a varied and extensive
career with 26 years experience in retail,
commercial and industrial storage and display
equipment.
Paul has particular expertise in shop floor
installations, and he handles much of the Asda store
remodel and refurbishment works.
A thorough practical approach to problem solving and
a client focus honed from sales experience, plus a
depth of IT skills and management vision make Paul
an asset to any project.
Paul became a member of our Board of Directors on 1
January 2010, having previously held the title of
Senior Contracts Manager. He manages our Contracts
team and site related activities, and is supported
by:
Contracts Team
Steve Thompson / Contracts
Manager

Steve joined us in February 2007 after 15 years with
IMF, a Refurbishment and Design Company, where he
started as a Site Fixer, graduating to Site Manager
and ending as a Senior Contracts Manager. There he
was involved in contracts ranging in size from
£20,000 right up to £3m Home Office fit-outs.
Previously he qualified as a City and Guilds
time-served Joiner at William Irwin, bank and
shop-fitting specialists.
Steve’s in-depth knowledge, practical site skills,
and experience serving the needs of large clients,
are proving invaluable on the type of projects we
undertake. He is now managing major works, after
spending the first few months assisting and learning
from Darren and Paul.
Nick Shaw / Trainee Contracts
Manager

Nick has been with us since 1997 as CAD
Technician and manager of our drawing files, and
last year took a career opportunity to move into the
Contracts Management team – in particular assisting
Paul Fahey - where his previous experience with the
Company has proved very useful while giving him an
opportunity to progress.
Daniel Clark / Trainee
Contracts Manager

Daniel joined us in January 2008 with some
previous Contracts/CAD experience working for a
Decorating subcontractor.
Dan works particularly with Steve Thompson, and like
Nick Shaw is providing essential support to the
Contracts Management team, while learning fast and
looking to progress to greater things!
Mark Davies / Project
Coordinator

Mark joined us in July 2008, and comes to us with a
BSc(Hons) in Civil Engineering, most recently having
worked in pre-development for house builders.
He is responsible for planning and pre-development
work, assisting the Directors with pre-development
requirements for new projects, and is already
attracting a wider remit due to his capability.
Nichola Bryant / Contracts
Administrator

Since she arrived in December 2007, Nichola has
proved to be an invaluable support to the Contracts
department, taking over the drawings management from
Nick Shaw, and maintaining our Contracts files and
records to a high standard. She also assists the H&S
department when time permits.
Carl Hitchens / Assistant
Contracts Manager

Carl joined us at the beginning of October 2007 to
manage a dedicated team undertaking a rollout of
small projects across a large number of Asda sites,
initially relating to roof access. The success of
that process has led to further opportunities of a
similar nature which this team is particularly
suited to undertake.
Carl comes from a background in Project Management
with Pace Electronics.
Jag Singh / Steelwork Manager

Jag came to HB Projects in late October 2007 and
works with Carl Hitchens providing specialist buying
experience in steel and fabrication.
He was previously with DPM Fabrications in Bradford,
and before that with Barrett Steel.
Paul Cowham / Design
Co-ordinator

Paul joined us in March 2009, having previously
worked for Castles Shopfitters. Paul has extensive
experience in CAD and design which he brings to his
work in support of the Contracts team, particularly
in pre-development.
Richard Cornwall / Contracts
Manager (Small Works)

Richard came to HB Projects in October 2009, having
worked previously for Cardinal Project Management as
an Assistant QS, and with other QS/contracts
management experience. He is currently focusing
particularly on ‘Small Works’ with Carl and Jag.
John Drinkwater / Contracts
Manager

John has been with HB Projects since January 2010.
He has extensive retail contracts/project management
experience - most recently with GB Building
Solutions, and before that with RG Group, building
on a previous career in Sainsbury’s. He is working
closely with Paul Fahey and Steve Thompson on major
contracts.
